I receive alot of questions, here are a few of the most frequent. If you need answers to any other questions, feel free to contact me.
Can we meet with you and other celebrants before we make a choice?
Yes-choosing a celebrant is an important decision and should be a ‘fit’ with your vision. I am happy to meet for a no obligation meeting.
What are the costs and when do I need to pay?
I will provide you with a written quote at the time of enquiry. Once you have decided to book my services a non refundable deposit of $100 is payable. The balance is payable by bank transfer, cash or cheque prior to your marriage.
How do we decide on a ceremony – can we write some of our own material?
I provide a resource booklet from which you can choose readings, vows and other ideas to personalise your ceremony. At our initial meeting we discuss your vision and I make a number of suggestions. I then draft a ceremony which you can edit or change, and of course if you wish to write your own vows this is incorporated.
We don’t like public speaking and don’t want to say a lot. Is this okay?
This is perfectly fine and quite common! I can limit the words you need to say to the necessities only. You can also repeat these words after me so you do not have to memorise anything which makes the whole process less stressful!
Is it okay if we want to involve our children or other family members?
Yes-this is great and can really add a personal touch to your ceremony. I have a number of suggestions and resources to provide around this idea.
Is there any specific length of time for a ceremony-or can it be quick and short if we want?
There is no formula as to how long a ceremony should take-it is entirely up to you. You can have the bare minimum of legal requirements and vows which may take about 10 minutes-but on average a ceremony is about 30 minutes length.
Will the celebrant and any other guests who do readings or present musical items be heard by everyone?
Yes – I have a portable PA and also an extra microphone which can be used by others so that we are on air at all times!
What does the celebrant wear?
I will usually wear semi-formal-but will always discuss with you so that I blend with your colour theme and basic wedding style .
What happens after the ceremony?
I register your marriage with the Births Deaths and Marriages Registry. I send you an email so that you can apply on-line for your official Marriage Certificate. The Certificate you receive on the day is decorative only and you will not be able to use it for legal processes, change of name etc.
